HOMEPAGE |
Newsletter of the Honeywell
Retiree Social Club of
Arizona
NOTE:
This online version is a
reformatted sub-set of the full version sent to paid-up members, with
possible updates to event information since the Bridge was distributed.
For example, it does not contain names of recent
retirees, new members, or members who have passed away, nor does it
contain the list of member email addresses which is sent out from time
to time. The full December edition of
the Bridge included a list of email
addresses for HRSC members.
Finally, there will typically be a delay of up
to a week before a new month's version is posted here; if you want to
get
the Bridge as it comes off the press, become a member
and request the full-color PDF version, the eBridge, which is sent by
email. Note that the black-and-white
paper Bridge is sent out by Honeywell, who outsource the task. It is
typically delivered about two weeks after the PDF eBridge is delivered
by email.

President's
Perspective
Well
here we are in February of 2016, where did January go? The Cardinals
sure had a good run this season, many fans were sorry it had to come to
an end; think of all the hard work for them to get to where they were.
Go Cardinals!
If you have
not made your reservations for the Day
at the Races, DEADLINE February 8th,
get it into Vic as soon as possible. If you know you are coming, at
least give him a call, then get your payment to him in the mail.
The Spring Pot Luck
in March, is approaching fast, don’t miss this one. With the Arizona
weather this past year, who knows what the weather will bring; but for
sure we will have Ice Breakers, 50/25/25 and awesome food provided by
the members and the board.
We are
always looking for new Board Members and
have several positions to fill. We will be having a phone-a-thon for
new board members starting in January, but if you are interested,
please call one of the existing board members, positions open now.
Do you know
someone in the "Honeywell Ole Timers"
group? "Click
here" to see some great photos from their December luncheon. The
group meets quarterly.
Thank you for being a loyal member of the
Honeywell Retiree Social Club of Arizona HRSC.

MEET Virginia Sherbeck
A 2015
SCHOLARSHIP
WINNER FROM ASU
As
a recent graduate of Arizona State University’s post-baccalaureate
nursing program I look forward to the many opportunities available to
me in the nursing field. After I pass the NCLEX (National Council
Licensure Examination) I hope to get a job at one of the valley
hospitals and maybe in the future return to school to become a doctor
of nursing practice. I chose nursing for my second degree because there
are so many different career paths available to those with a BSN
(Bachelor of Science in Nursing), the opportunities are almost
limitless.
I have faced many obstacles in pursuing my education. Being dyslexic
made reading and writing very difficult for me. I learned to always put
in my best effort, even if the task at hand seemed impossible. Another
obstacle in my education was signing up to be an information technology
specialist in the Army National Guard during my freshman year at ASU.
Although it put my education on hold several times over my six years in
the Guard, the lessons I learned in the Army and during my deployment
to Afghanistan are invaluable.
When I’m not studying disease processes or how to best care for sick or
injured patients, I like to be active. I enjoy indoor rock climbing and
rollerblading. I also like watching movies, particularly Marvel
superhero movies.
I would like to thank the Honeywell retirees’ Club for selecting me to
receive a scholarship. This scholarship, in addition to the Post 9/11
GI Bill, has helped cover a lot of the tuition and fees associated with
attending the Arizona State University nursing program.
Virginia is a dependent of Honeywell Retiree Clubs member Laura
Lindberg.
Congratulations Virginia!

Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
Thursday, May 5
It’s the late
1970s and the happy-go-lucky town of Gilbert, Texas has just been put
on the map when a crusading television reporter aims his camera at a
favorite, local “destination” - The Chicken Ranch.
Frequented by governors, senators, mayors and even victorious college
football teams for more than a century, the town is now faced with
recounting the good times as they struggle with the demise of their
best pleasure palace. Made famous by Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton, The Best
Little Whore-house In Texas is a charming, lively and genial
show that will leave you laughing for days with songs like “Girl,
You’re A Woman” “Twenty Four Hours of Lovin” and “No Lies.”
