Walk off 10,20, even 50 pounds? Excerpts from Prevention Magazine:
Walking is a terrific way to lose weight. You can do it anywhere and all you need is a good pair of walking shoes. You have been practicing 30, 40, 50 years! So why is it so hard to get yourself out the door day after day? The excuses are just as simple: No time, motivation, aches and pains or boredom. Start slowly with realistic goals. Take a look at walking’s spectacular benefits:
- Burns almost as many calories as jogging
- Eases back pain
- Slims your waist
- Goes easy on yours joints
- Strengthens your bones
- Can be done in short bouts
- Lowers blood pressure
- Allows time with family and friends
- Shapes your legs and butt
- Cuts cholesterol

- Can be done when you’re traveling
- Reduces your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and more
I have found that walking with a friend makes walking more enjoyable. It also helps me, to keep track of how often and how long I walk or do other activities. Walk, relax and focus on being healthy.
