SPRING POT LUCK LUNCHEON - WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2013
Your Honeywell Retirees Club will provide baked ham, rolls, coffee, tea and water. Plates, utensils, condiments, etc. will also be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share: hot casserole, baked beans, salad or dessert of your choice. There will also be a door prize, a game on Arizona trivia with a $25 prize for the winner, and a chance for you to become RICH by winning the Split the Pot 50 -50 Drawing. Get out your favorite recipes and prepare your specialty to share with others. We are bringing a much acclaimed salad like you have never tasted before: Sunrise-Sunset Salad Delight. You will want to eat it from sunrise to sunset! Join us for a spectacular array of food! Don’t cook? Come anyway. If you want, grab a bag of chips or something from the deli, BUT DON'T MISS this picnic or you will be sorry!!! You may bring your own beer (we have a beer permit) or soft drinks if you would like, but no glass containers are allowed in the park. See you there. And while you are at the park, you might want to consider going over and touring the old Sahuaro Ranch buildings and catching up on a bit of Arizona history. PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVEThe Day at the Races was a great success. We had 57 happy people attend and I am sure most of us went home winners. The food was excellent and filling. Dawn did an outstanding job in bringing this event to a successful completion. Thank you so much from all of us. The Sperry Club has planned a trip to the Arizona Broadway Theatre for a performance of the Buddy Holly Story on Wednesday, March 27. It looks quite interesting. Also, on April 3 at 1 PM, we are invited to go hear Tim Mahoney speak at the Garret club. Our spring picnic is on April 3 at Saguaro Park in Glendale and is free to all club members and guests. All we ask is that you bring a plate to share with everyone and include the recipe so those that especially enjoy your entrée can make it for themselves. If you choose, you can pick up some chips and dip or a side dish from the grocery market to share. The Annual Meeting will be held at the Elks Club on 32nd Street and Greenway on April 25. This year we have offered an invitation to our sister clubs, Sperry and Garret, to attend. We are having a speaker on the Affordable Health Care Act (aka Obamacare) explain the effects on Medicare and other specific health care plans. This should be a highly informative and worthwhile discussion. The Scholarship Program procedures will be placed on our website. If you are interested and have a grandchild in college who will be at least a sophomore, please review this procedure. We want to grant as many scholarships to our Honeywell Retiree Club family members as possible. During the next few weeks you may receive a phone call from an HRC board member. We are looking for feedback on how the board of directors is doing and on ways to better serve and represent the members in the future. We sincerely appreciate your inputs in this regard. Thank you for your support and let’s have a year of good heath and fun. Vic UPCOMING ACTIVITIESAZ BROADWAY THEATRE - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27
